AYSO United Coach - Cesar Santana



BACKGROUND

I bring a rounded approach to the club and my team. I’ve been coaching youth sports for 18 years. Getting certified in coaching soccer, skiing, snowboarding, basketball and youth development have provided me with a wide variety of experience that I use to develop players and teams as grow as players and future adults. I have a background as multi-sport athlete and currently compete in recreational soccer as well as sailing in national and world level competitions. My professional background in engineering and business development helps me technically with absorbing and processing information about the game.

PHILOSOPHY

Players first. My assistant coach and I focus on our players developing and making sure that they enjoy the process. We also use soccer as an avenue to promote hard work, respect, and sportsmanship and tie those virtues into successes in life.

5 years of coaching soccer through AYSO and AYSO United in West Michigan
High school club level and adult amateur level playing experience

SOCCER HIGHLIGHT

Our first win as a club soccer team and coach was special. It was a long fight to get it and I remember celebrating with the boys like we won the world cup. I even took the players and families out for pizza after. It was great.

FAVORITE TEAM

US Women’s National Team hand’s down. Second to that Liverpool, long before they were as good as they are now. “You’ll never walk alone” has always resonated with me.

BEST COACHING MEMORY

Our first club win, but since I already referenced that, I’ll say that the support of my team during my regional & national coach of the year nominations was something that I’ll never forget.
